Celia Lee

Born in Northern Ireland and moved to live in London in the mid-1960s. Educated at St. Columba's Secondary School, Portaferry, Co. Down. Worked as a commercial secretary in the City of London for 40 years. Honours degree in Humanities from the Open University, having specialised in modern history and literature; studied politics at Goldsmiths University of London; Honorary Research Fellow of the Centre For First World War Studies, University of Birmingham.

Is a social and military historian and biographer; along with a fellow BCMH member, Mr Paul Strong, she set up a WOMEN IN WAR group, who are each writing a chapter of a book with that title. She gives a joint talk with her husband, John Lee, based on their books about the Hamiltons, and is just beginning a series of talks for the Churchill Society branches, based on their books about the Churchills. Other interests include gardening, music and going to the theatre.

A biography of Jean, Lady Hamilton (1861-1941) pub. 2001; WINSTON & JACK The Churchill Brothers (co-author John Lee); pub. privately Xmas 2007 for the Churchill Family; THE CHURCHILLS A Family Portrait (co-author John Lee); pub. autumn 2009 by Palgrave Macmillan, New York; Lion TV are planning a documentary based upon this book; currently working on a book about His Royal Highness The Duke of Kent KG, titled: A LIFE OF SERVICE, which will deal with Prince Edward's patronages, tennis prize giving at Wimbledon, and his military career; (co-author John Lee). Organisations: Member of the British Commission For Military History; the Gallipoli Association; the Western Front Association; the Douglas Haig Fellowship.
