Daisy Hay

Daisy Hay is the author of Young Romantics: The Shelleys, Byron, and Other Tangled Lives, published by Bloomsbury and Farrar, Straus and Giroux in May 2010.  Young Romantics shatters the myth of the Romantic poet as a solitary, introspective genius, telling the story of the astonishingly youthful circle who gathered around Percy Shelley and Leigh Hunt in the decade following 1813.  It encompasses tales of love, betrayal, sacrifice and friendship, all of which were played out against a background of political turbulence and intense literary creativity.

Daisy has a PhD in English Literature from New Hall, Cambridge, where she also gained a First Class Honours Degree, and an MA in Romantic and Sentimental Literature from the University of York.  Between 2006 and 2009 she was a Bye-Fellow at New Hall, and is currently the Alistair Horne Fellow at St Antony’s College, Oxford.  She has written for various academic journals and literary magazines, including the European Romantic Review, the Times Literary Supplement and Slightly Foxed, and is a contributor to the forthcoming Oxford Handbook of Shelley Studies.  She lives in London.

Agent: Clare Alexander at Aitken Alexander Associates.
